Happy #MotivationalMonday (01/25/21)
Part three in my motivational series from “Old School Grit” by Darrin Donnelly is Rule #9, Eliminate Negative Influences.
We have all heard that your attitude is everything, but we forget sometimes how much our attitude is controlled by our own self-talk.
Donnelly explains it well in his book. “You have to monitor your self-talk the same way you monitor any other behavioral habit. You can’t talk down to yourself; you have to talk yourself up.”
Don’t let that voice in your head say things like:
“I can’t do it.”
“This will never happen for me.”
“So-and-so was right, I don’t have what it takes.”
Instead, you need to be saying things like this when you’re talking to yourself:
“I will find a way to make it happen.”
“I refuse to back down.”
“I will prove so-and-so wrong and show the world what I’m made of.”
Don’t forget the attitude of others affects you, too. This is why you need to be aware of toxic negativity that is around you and be willing to cut out those influences in your life, as well.
