This past Friday would have been Aaron’s seventh birthday. I look forward to the day that he and I are reunited; but in the mean time, I am going to try to be better each day in his honor. Please check out a wonderful tribute my wife wrote about Aaron.
Three pounds, four and one half ounces; that is how much Aaron weighed. He was so tiny, but so perfect. Although only five people, including David and I, met Aaron face-to-face, his footprints have had an imprint on so many lives. The fact that you are reading this right now means that you are one of those impacted by Aaron.
When we were going through our journey with Aaron, the term “AaronStrong” was coined for his fight against Trisomy 18. Since only half of children with T18 make it to birth, that was our initial goal for Aaron. He was a fighter, making it all the way to 34 weeks before being delivered stillborn. His fight and his strength gave us strength, and “AaronStrong” became so much more. “AaronStrong” is FINDING strength; it is PERSEVERING against the odds; it is strengthening your FAITH; it is growing stronger in the right MINDSET; it is NEVER GIVING UP! All these things are the imprint our Aaron had on my and David’s life. Although he was only here for a little while, he helped us be AaronStrong. His life mattered.
Every life makes an imprint. YOUR life is making an imprint and you leave your footprints throughout your journey. As you go through life leaving your footprints, ask yourself, “Am I AaronStrong?” Leah Bultema
