After watching the Alabama versus Auburn football game on Saturday night and seeing Alabama, the #1 ranked team in the country, get defeated, I thought, what better time for a humility lesson than today? Humility is the state or quality of being humble; freedom from pride and arrogance; a modest estimate of one's own worth. I do believe it is important to be humble and to be confident. One must be able to balance both!
Coach Bryant understands that humility is an important part of the formula for overcoming adversity and handling failure. Nobody likes a sore loser (adult or children), but in most cases to be a consistent winner, you must learn how to lose. Nobody wants to lose, but valuable lessons can be learned from it and that is how people are successful. This message does not only apply to football or sports, it applies to all areas in life! Are you so prideful that you cannot even see your mistakes or failures? Maybe you need some “humble pie” in your life. Remember, it’s not about the setback, it’s about the comeback! Humility can help you with that.
