The week of February 13th is a tough week for my sisters and I. We unexpectedly lost both of our parents, and this week comes with painful reminders of those losses. February 13th is our late mother’s birthday and February 15th is the day our father passed away.
I started doing AaronStrong presentations in January of 2014, and things were going really well. My family and I were honored on behalf of the AaronStrong movement on February 14th, at the Big Blue Bonanza baseball tournament. I really was starting to move past the loss of Aaron, my son. Then, February 15th changed things.
My father was my best friend! After I was married and moved out, we continued to talk multiple times a week. When he passed, I quit doing AaronStrong for several months. I did not have the courage to get in front of people and tell my story; I was broken. However, after renewing my faith and building myself back up with G.R.I.T., I was able, along with the help of others, to turn AaronStrong in to a non-profit foundation. Just this past week, I had three people tell me "thank you" for what I do with AaronStrong. Is it easy? No! However, it is possible, and so rewarding!
Think about where you are in life and ask yourself, “What can I do today that will have a positive impact on my life and others’ lives around me?” As we said last week, start a new ending!
